Jet Lag and Earthing
As soon as we arrived in the USA I was very keen to find a patch of ground and sit with my bare feet on it for about 30 mins to energise and reset our internal body clocks to local time. Well - forget anything at LA airport, you just need to get out of there. So by the time we picked up our hire car and our "wonderful" GPS guided us to the freeway there were no parks to be seen - just miles and miles of endless twisted freeways. After we had been driving for about 1 hour in the car I started to feel quite tired, almost to the point I couldn't keep my eyes open and was grateful that my husband was driving as I would not have been able to handle it and at that point realised that I had not connected the auto mat as they had ended up in the boot with our luggage in all the commotion of getting out of LA. We decided to take our chances and veer off the never ending Freeway and find somewhere to grab a coffee and maybe find a patch of earth.
We were very lucky and after a quick scan found both a coffee shop with a small grassy area out the front. We only stopped for about 30 minutes but it seemed to be enough to energise us to get back on the Freeway again and drive for another couple of hours - we did get a couple of funny stares as people drove past as we must have looked strange standing barefoot on this patch 0f grass about 2m x 2m with a palm tree in the middle drinking a cup of coffee - who cares it did the trick!
When we got to our destination what a pleasant surprise it was to find beautiful green grass with a relaxing outdoor setting just outside our hotel room. We quickly changed and sat back with our bare feet on the grass for about 40 minutes while enjoying some chatting with other guests - we then jumped in the salt water pool and we were all energised again. So after being on the move for well over 24 hours, with very little areoplane sleep, we could still go for a walk into beautiful warm Palm Springs and enjoy dinner with minimal fatigue. When we got back we eagerly looked forward to sleeping on our earthing half sheet, which we brought with us, and had a beautiful deep sleep for about 9 hours - heaven! We then turned up at the Earthing Office bright and focused and did not get tired until it was time to go to bed that night around 10.30pm and again had no problems sleeping. We seemed to adjust so easily to the new time zone.
We also experienced no jet lag on our return trip. This time we had to use the Universal Mat as it was a chilly 10 degrees outside at 8am - missing that desert heat. As it was my birthday this day we were invited out to lunch and had family come over in the evening and were fine throughout and not retiring to bed until around 10pm - again adjusting comfortably back into the time zone.
So if you have to travel long distances to other parts of the world it would certainly be viable to try and ground yourself either by planting your bare feet on the Earth, using a mat or sheet, or both as soon as possible when you reach your destination so that you don't waste any of your valuable time feeling tired and fatigued and can enjoy every minuite of your trip and the people you're with.
